Red Door

-Got beef?
The Burgers of Chi

Can you believe August is already here? While I've never been more excited for a Chicago Bears football season I'm pretty bummed out that with it's beginning, winter will be back before we know it. But not so fast, we still have plenty of weeks to get out and enjoy the sun. I recently did so at of the better outdoor patios in Bucktown belonging to the Red Door located at the corner of Damen and Charleston.

Red Door is the product of two Chicago guys that have had years of experience in the hospitality industry with their latest offering "featuring global comfort food flavors with equal attention paid to a seasonal, locally and organically sourced craft cocktail program." They also have the great patio I mentioned out back and it sits hidden from the hustle and bustle of the streets. It's a cool neighborhood tavern to have as they offer everything from brunch to dinner with snacks for you to nibble on while sipping a cocktails or beer at the bar.

Buffalo Fries

Saturday and Sunday Red Door does brunch and all of the entrees are $11/each. The Crab Benedict was pretty on point though I prefer mine the traditional style. I'll probably be looking to try the steak and eggs or something else next time around.

Featured on both the brunch and dinner menu is the Red Door Burger which I think deserves talk amongst the best bar burgers in the city. They use quality hand packed beef topped with a bacon onion jam and Hook's 5 year cheddar, house pickles and grain mustard. The bun is perfect for holding it all together while the fresh cut fries are very good. Mine was slightly overcooked past my medium rare request on this visit however it was still a damn fine burger and one I suggest you check out if ever in the area and hungry.
