Charcoal Chicken in Albany Park
I’d been meaning to check out the Halal Inn over on Kedzie since it first opened a year or two ago. It’s a pizzeria that’s also popular for it's fried chicken wings and charcoal grilled chicken. It’s the newest addition to the Albany Park Shopping Center which has a handful of other spots worth checking out.
The grilled chicken is what caught my eye. The wings and pizza seem pretty standard but their grilled chicken seemed to be similar to a spot in the southwest suburbs I’ve enjoyed that also does pizza and grilled chicken, it’s similar down to the way they cut the chicken for their half bird orders. Both spots serve the chicken over a huge serving of seasoned rice, or you can get frozen fries but the rice is the way to go as it soaks up lots of the flavor from the grilled chicken which has some great charcoal taste. It’s typically served with spicy or garlic sauce on top of the chicken but I got them on the side. The spicy garlic seems to have some Buffalo or Peri Peri sauce blended in which works well. It’s a ton of food for $12 and some of the better grilled chicken you can find in Chicago and for that I'll be back.
