Barbara Ann's

-Grubbing in Chicago
Where the locals eat.

Hello and welcome back to all the longtime regular readers and also the newbies who keep on coming. The numbers dont lie. It's been way to long since we took a trip to the Southside to try some authentic Chicago style BBQ. Before a fire took out much of what was inside, Barbara Ann's on Cottage Grove was one of the cities more popular spots for bbq. They've recently reopened and it had been way too long since my last visit so that switched as one day I rode by and saw smoke filling the streets.

Longtime locals favorite in Grand Crossing

Barbara Ann's began in 1967 when Delars Bracy opened up naming it after his daughter. Learn more about the Mississippi native who started the place and his daughter who keeps the family legacy living by checking out this SFA oral history story HERE. They use a real deal Chicago style Aquarium Smoker and were putting it to great use on my visit last week. "Tip's and Links" are what we prefer here and on this visit around 6p on a weekday they were almost perfect in each and every facet of what makes for great BBQ of this variety. Extra props for golden crisp fries and always serving sauce on the side. If interested in learning more about Chicago Style BBQ check this wonderful Sky Full of Bacon video on it. Barbara Ann's, BIG fan.
