Q Tine

-Grubbing in Chicago
New to the 'Scene'

Riding down Milwaukee avenue last week I spied a storefront sporting some new colors and glanced over to see the new Q Tine has opened up.  This place is taking the favorite foods of Memphis and Montreal and combining them into one with BBQ Poutine. I decided to check them out.

Newly Opened in Logan Square

First things first the hours, they're weird. Not open until 4p on most days might not work but they are open until 4a most days which should result in some after booze traffic. Inside it's dimly lit with brick walls and an old Airstream hallowed out as a makeshift ordering counter. Its got a Logan Square feel.

a peek inside

The menu is pretty straight forward as far as the description goes. They got poutine and bbq, and in most cases they go together. For those unfamiliar poutine is a popular snack in Montreal that consists of fries covered in gravy mixed with cheese curds. Options like Poutine topped with pulled pork are what you can look forward to at Q Tine. However the menu item that caught my eye is the Coach Q which is poutine topped with Montreal Style smoked meat, another regional eat of the area. I thought it was a messy albeit satisfying hangover lunch though the smoked meat tasted more like corned beef. Try it with some of their homemade horseradish sauce as they work well together. Hopefully they can fix the smoked meat up but if not I can see myself stopping in again for just an order of regular poutine, it's got a certain comfort to it I enjoy. Check them out and see for yourself.
