-Grubbing in Chicago(land)Noodles in Grayslake
Today's post takes us all the way out to Grayslake. A town in Lake County not far from Libertyville and Gurnee for those not in the know. I visited Noodles once maybe two years ago when I was out this way. No idea why I was out here but I must've found Noodles while searching for a spot to eat. The name isn't exactly a creative one but something about it feels authentic and straight to the point.
Locals Favorite in Grayslake
Noodles is ran by an older Chinese lady who seems to be the sole proprietor. She was the only person working on a second visit I took with Fooditor's Mike Gebert in the last calendar year. We'd rode out this way for something else but figured we might as well try two spots since we were all the way out here. I suggested Noodles as I figured Mike would enjoy checking out a spot that fit more so in a place like Chinatown than it did in Lake County. That said the menu was switched up slightly in between my visits. It seemed as though it was YT'ened up just a bit. Instead of a bunch of different noodle dishes they were now just offering noodles a couple ways with your choice of protein. The Chipotle setup so to say. Dumplings too. Good ones at that. This is after all a mom and pop type spot and not a corporate entity. You could taste the homemade in these traditional pot-stickers.

On my first visit I tried a wonton soup and a dan dan noodles. Since they're no longer on the menu no point in posting pics but they were both good enough for me to suggest we check them out on this trip. Luckily so was the current menus noodle offering. If I remember correctly you can now choose noodles made fresh from a machine with broth or stir fried with your choice of protein. We got the stir fried noodles with pork and I really liked it actually. Nothing special so to say except each element (noodles, pork etc) was really well done. Now I'm not going to drive out there just for some noodles but if I'm ever back out this way I'll probably be heading to Noodles for some more noodles.
